o, what's going on at Camp Fuller?  I'm glad you asked.

Lots of Liquid Sunshine!

Check-out Camp Fuller’s Facebook page to see pictures of the Flood of 2010!  Fortunately, damage was minimal.  Camp Fuller Road washed out and was impassable for half a day, but has been repaired.  The council fire area became a temporary pond, but it is beginning to dry out.

We are fortunate that they have taken a number of pictures of Camp Fuller and the surrounding area.  Click here to see a slideshow of these wonderful shots.  (You may also see them by going to Photos --> Photo Gallery --> Camp Photos By Area --> Bousquet Aerial Photos.)

BEGINNING THE SEARCH

Camp Fuller is a YMCA co-ed summer resident camp located in southern Rhode Island on Salt Pond, an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean just west of Narragansett Bay. Camp Fuller is the third oldest continuously running camp in America, having been established in 1887. The camp was named for Frederic H. Fuller in 1914 after he helped Fresdrick_Fuller_4X5.jpgobtain the land on Salt Pond where the camp is now located. Before that, the camping would occur at different locations. Fuller was president of the Providence YMCA from 1895 to 1922 (except 1899 - 1902). Most of his successors only served for one or two years, but he held the position for 24 years! Fuller's family also owned an iron foundry and a brass foundry in Providence, RI., both of which he helped run. Bronze bells were one of the many items the family foundries produced.

When I rejoined the board of Camp Fuller in the spring of 2006, the Chair mentioned that he had always wanted to have a Fuller bell at Camp Fuller to honor the Fuller family. I agreed that having a Fuller bell would be a wonderful addition to camp, since the current bell was not a Fuller bell.

The first step would be finding out if any Fuller bells were still in existence. Would this search end in success or failure?
