he Photo Gallery is called Expose.  It is flash-based, which means that the flash extension must be installed in your browser for the gallery to work.  Flash is a product of the Adobe Corporation and is available as a free download.  Most browsers (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox) already have it installed.  In the event that it is not installed, the browser will offer to install it for you.

The gallery is set up with pictures being contained in albums and albums being contained within collections.  All the collections together make up the gallery.

Select an Album

To view pictures, place your mouse over the "Photos" menu item in the horizontal menu near the top of the page.  When the submenu appears, move down and click on Photo Gallery.  Everything below the menu area will be replaced by a black background (to make it easier on the eyes to view the pictures).  The collections that make up the photo gallery will be displayed.

Pick the collection that interests you and click on it.  This will cause the list of albums contained within that collection to appear in the column to the right of the collections.  When you have located the album you would like to view, click on it and it will load.

Quick Start

If you want to get started quickly, just click on the first picture of the strip and then click on the right facing arrow near the top left corner of the black background to advance to the next picture.  Or, click on the double orange arrows to start a slide show, with the pictures changing automatically for you.  To stop the slideshow, click on the red stop-sign shaped icon located where the double orange arrows used to be.  If you'd like to view another album, click on the triple orange horizontal lines at the top of the gallery near the right edge.  All of these icons have hints that display just above them when the mouse hovers over them.

In Gallery Help

Click on the blue question mark at the top right corner of the gallery to display a condensed help screen:

Film Strip

The album's pictures are displayed in a continuous strip.  You may place your mouse over the red arrows to the right or left of the film strip to make it scroll in that direction.  If there are no more pictures in that direction, the red arrow for that direction will not be visible.

You may also scroll through the pictures by using the white slider located below the strip.  Drag the slider to move the strip of pictures or click within the  slider's slot to shift the slider to that position.

When you find a picture in the strip you would like to view, click on it and a larger version will be displayed.

Display Larger Versions

If you click on one of these larger images (even during a slideshow), it will open a popup window (as long as popup windows are not blocked for your browser).  The images with horizontal orientation will not usually change size, but the images with vertical orientation (portrait node) will usually be displayed in a larger size.  To return to the gallery, click the "go back" button at the upper right-hand corner of this popup window.

Keyboard Advance

You may also advance to the next picture with the right arrow key on your keyboard.  Unfortunately, the left arrow will not display the previous picture.
