T he website is created to take advantage of today's higher screen resolutions. A resolution of 1024x768 or higher will make your experience here much more pleasurable and will eliminate side-to-side scrolling. With longer articles, some verticle scrolling will still be necessary. At 1024x768, the entire image area (with the black background) will be visible in the Photo Gallery (once you scroll down just a little one time).
Faster After the First Visit The first time the site loads, it will be on the slow side, depending on your connection speed. After that, the site will load much more quickly, since the bits and pieces that make up the images and outlines will not need to be downloaded again. Please don't be discouraged by the initial slow display. Javascript Javascript must not be blocked. Without javascript, the menus and popup images from the articles will not work.
Photo Gallery and Flash The Photo Gallery is flash-based. If flash is blocked (or hasn't been installed), the Photo area will not function. If you need it, flash is available as a free download from Adobe. Most recent browsers will let you know if you need to download flash or update it to a newer version and they will provide a link to do so. If popup windows are blocked, the full-sized images from the Photo Gallery will not appear. This does not affect the popup images called from the articles, since they use a different routine. This also does not affect the display of the photos and the slideshows, since they are not displayed in popup windows. If popups are set to be blocked in your browser, sometimes holding down the Control key while clicking will allow one to appear.
