T
he follow-up to the annual Camp Fuller phonathon will take place this year on Wednesday, March 26 at the Greater Providence YMCA's Association Offices in Providence (222 Richmond Street, Suite 301). The phonathon is camp's major fundraising effort for the year and all the money raised will go to our Annual Strong Kids Campaign (which allow kids who couldn't otherwise afford to attend camp to be able to do so).

At the first night of calling, we raised $5,400, bringing our total amount raised this year to $29,900.  Our goal this year is $66,000 (up from last year's total raised of $64,000).  We still have a lot of work to do.

The Camp Fuller Board will be making calls asking for donations, but there aren't enough of us to contact all of the "Friends of Fuller" on our list. We need your assistance. You don't need to be a professional (or even an amateur) telemarketer or a fundraiser. The most effective approach is to just tell why you enjoyed your time at camp or how it helped you become the person you are today.

As a Board member (and a former counselor and the current webmaster), I hope all of you feel strongly enough about camp to make a financial contribution to this year's campaign, as our entire Board has already done. But, what I'm really hoping for is that you will want to go one step further and help the Board make the phone calls. Instead of camp receiving just your donation, you can help camp receive many donations.

The commitment will only be a few hours long. You will only be calling ten or fifteen donors.  There will be a light dinner and an orientation at 6:15 pm and calling will run from about 6:45 pm to 8:15 pm. The people being contacted are all previous donors, parents and alumni that have already been very supportive of camp. They enjoy catching up with all things Fuller. These are not cold calls. You also get to chat with Board members and the Administrative staff before the calls.

If you'd like to help but can't make it to the phonathon, a short list of names can be sent to you, so you can make the calls from home. If you can help, please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and I'll send more information. It's a great way to assist Camp Fuller.

If you receive a call from a helper asking for a donation, please be as generous as you can. If you'd like to make a donation and haven't received a call, please contact me at the email address above, or call the Camp Fuller office at 401-783-5359.

Thank you for keeping Camp Fuller in your heart,

Marty Hanoian
