Much more will be written about Frederic Fuller, the man Camp Fuller is named after. This article is just a placeholder for the entire piece. Until this is complete, please check out the pictures of Frederic Fuller's Bells in the Photo Gallery . You can even listen to one of the bells here . His family produced many items for Rhode Island and the neighboring states (and for places as far away as New York, New Jersey, Maine and New Brunswick Canada). They were very involved building steam engines, casting fittings, pipes, bells and rolls which were used in manufacturing and by the fire departments, as well as developing property during the Industrial Revolution and the Gilded Age which followed.
Few Rhode Islanders realize how large a part our tiny state played in the development of our country as an industrial giant. While doing research, it has come to light that the bells and other items cast by the Fuller family have crossed paths with many "firsts" and "biggests", not just in Rhode Island or the United States, but worldwide! As time permits, I'll add to this article. The history of the Fuller family, in particular, and Rhode Island, in general, is fascinating. Bookmark or recommend this article: |
